How are you doing? Good. Are you watching this? And I know you're doing some of your Got Your Back podcast stuff with Ryan Rashog and Jason Studrick and guys of that caliber. Are you watching this ongoing saga with Bruce Cassidy with some interest? Well, I am. We've talked about a lot on our podcast, and I know there's a lot of stuff written every day. If you're an Euler fan, you're like, you believe Cassidy's the guy that could get you to that next level, then you're like, hey, why are they doing this? They've got to let him go. If you're a Vegas management group, you're like, well, we don't have to let him go, and he's going to make our division rivals better, so let's do everything that we possibly can legally to not allow it to happen. So I understand why Vegas is doing it. I can understand the frustration from Euler fans and a lot of other people, but I mean, the one thing that we've seen with the Vegas Golden Knights over the years, they will do anything it takes to win. They've had success doing it, so I don't think I'm really that shocked by it. Kelly McCrimmon, very good executive and owner executive in the Western Hockey League with Brandon, though he never did win a Memorial Cup there, but he's won a Stanley Cup as an NHL general manager. Most people would say, you know, guys like Bruce Hamilton in Kelowna, Ron Twaygo in Vancouver, Kelly McCrimmon in Brandon, those guys had a lot of power in the league. Should we be surprised that Kelly's always sort of operated on his own terms, Rob, if you know what I'm saying? Well, yeah, and as I said earlier, I'm not surprised by this. It's funny, when it first came out, and I'm thinking, well, I wouldn't think they would have to let him go if they were paying him, and we brought it up, and then it was said, well, the NHL will do something about it. I'm like, well, can the NHL legally do anything about it if Vegas is following all the rules? So the other fans want Bruce Cassidy, and obviously Oilers do, so there's the frustration level, but I can absolutely see exactly why Vegas is doing this, and if they can somehow stop their division rival from firing a coach that they feel can get them to the next level, they're going to do everything possible to do that. So I'm not surprised at all, and Vegas, I'm sure, looked at everything possible, legal-wise, to see how far they can take it and feel pretty comfortable with it. Yeah, it's interesting, Rob, as you know, Bruce Cassidy was under contract with Boston when Vegas decided to get rid of Peter DeBoer and needed permission from Boston and got Cassidy. And John Tortorella was under contract with Philadelphia during the season when they wanted to get rid of Cassidy, and Philadelphia provided permission. Having said that, both of those teams are in opposite conferences. So what if all 31 other teams just said, you know what, Gary, if this is the modus operandi for the Vegas Golden Knights, the other 31 teams said, okay, fine. You know what? No one gets access to anybody that's under contract. I mean, that's a possibility. I don't see that happening. Right. But, again, it's like you have a non-compete. You're someone from your business. They can't go to another business that's similar for one year, two years, whatever it is. Again, I'm not saying what Vegas is doing is right. And as an Oiler, working for the Oilers and being an Oiler fan, and if you believe this is the guy, I can see the frustration. But if Vegas is following their rules, I mean, this is like when the NHL had all of the, what is it, the LTIR rules. Yes. People were not happy that Tampa was 28 or 40 or whatever million dollars over. And Vegas followed the rules. And Vegas. And Edmonton has been over too, like all these teams have. Every time a rule is put in place in the National Hockey League by the owners and the GMs, the very next day, all those owners and GMs are trying to get around those rules. That's how it works. So, again, if Vegas is competing with Edmonton, we know how much money is made come playoff time for ownership. And if Vegas feels, and as the Oilers do, that Cassidy can make the Oilers a better team, well, I'm going to do everything I can if I'm Vegas to say, no, we're not letting you go to a division rival. You want to go with Toronto? Go ahead. You want to go to Columbus? Go ahead. You want to go anywhere else, but we're not letting you go to Edmonton. So I understand what Vegas is doing. Whether you like it or not, that's a different story. But Vegas is trying to make their team better. And that's the one thing they've been. They've been very cutthroat with players in the organization, stuff like that throughout their tenure in the National Hockey League. So, again, not surprised. The road to the NBA Finals ends here with star guard setting the tone. The Cavs eye another upset while the Knicks carry the dreams of all of New York. The Eastern Conference Finals continue on ESPN and ABC. Rob, we had first Frank Cervalli and then Pierre Lebrun on in the first hour. We basically asked them, you know, had people ask about Mike Babcock. And Cervalli, well, actually, Aidan, what did Frank say again? Well, Frank said that he was probably the best bet because you were explaining a coach with a lot of pedigree and a Stanley Cup behind his belt. Has to be a Stanley Cup champion as a head coach with gravitas that can put defensive structure and process in the game and hold top players accountable. And Cervalli said, did he say he was the, based on that? He said that came to his mind when you brought that up. Okay, and what did LeBrun say when I said, hey, what about this guy? Did he not say it's the best coach he's ever worked? Yeah, apart from Scotty Bowman. Yeah. Could they go down that path, Rob? What do you think? Could the Oilers look at Mike Babcock? Well, they can look at him. You asked me the other day what I thought, and I said no. And I didn't even need to elaborate. And still, to me, it's a no. It's a hard no. Can they look at him? Yeah. I mean, right now, the job for Stan Bowman and the Oilers organization is to find out whatever is best for their team. And they've got to look at all options. Have to. So that's an option. You look at it. But to me, it's a 100% hard no, if I had any say in it, which I don't. But that would be for me. All right, so let me ask you this. Do you wait it out with Cassidy here a couple more weeks? Because it was not a one... You know what, Rob? We're going to do this for you again. Aidan, can you pull up that clip? This is Kelly McCrimmon. I don't know if you heard this yesterday, Rob, because he was really specific with what he had to say. So here it is. Secondly, regarding Bruce Cassidy, teams have asked for permission to speak with Bruce. We've been consistent that our focus currently is on the Stanley Cup playoffs, and the teams have respected that. I've spoken with Bruce. He understands this as well. So he didn't say no. He just said at this time our focus is on the Stanley Cup playoffs. Well, if the Oilers want Bruce Cassidy, then yeah, you wait. And then you see. The Colorado Avalanche should be favorites against Vegas, although I wouldn't count Vegas out. And certainly not with Kyle McCarty injured. I agree. So it could be another month before this is finalized. But if that's who you feel that you need to coach your team, then you wait. And who knows? I mean, maybe Vegas never gives you that option, and all of
